Three Springs

(Pleito Canyon)

The Three Springs site is located in Pleito Canyon on the Wind Wolves Preserve.  This site is little known because of it's remoteness and inaccessibility.  One unique feature is what is thought to be a 'Solar Calendar' on the inside wall of the largest opening.  As the sun moves across the sky, shadows fall on a wide line of 'peck marks' and vertical lines in the stone, which are said to accurately tell the time of year. Access to this site is controlled and protected by the 'Wildlands Conservancy'.  I took these photos while serving on the Board of Directors at the Ridge Route Communities Historical Society, (RRCHS.org) in Frazier Park, California.
